When is the last day to order for Christmas?

We are accepting orders through through December 19, but recommend placing your order early to save on shipping (“last minute” orders must ship USPS express).

What kinds of jewelry do you make?

The short answer is — anything! Necklaces, rings, charm bracelets, bangles, earrings, brooches, rings, tie bars, money clips, zipper pulls, eyeglass chains! We also make Christmas ornaments, key rings, golf markers and bookmarks.

What sort of artwork can you use? FAQS

Pretty much anything you can convert into an image! We only ask that the image be high resolution. It can be jewelry based on pictures in pencil, pen, crayon, marker, chalk, and paint.

Other examples of art to be used

Drawings in sand, on a magna doodle or on a window. We have made jewelry from personal photographs — a daddy with his little girl, a biker tattoo, a wooden boat model. Did your child draw something really cute on the sidewalk in chalk? You can take a picture and turn it into a key chain or pendant so it lasts forever instead of just until the next rain! An other thing to keep in mind. Is that a drawing with a lot of feelings apparent in facial expressions always are appreciated more than the “silent face”.

EDITS

Occasionally we may have to modify the picture just a little — if your stick figure has super long legs or there is tiny writing in the picture. Mia has a genius for keeping the character of the artwork but still making it work. We will always consult with you before modifying your picture.

By the way, we don’t just make jewelry from kids’ art. We have made key chains and pendants from business logos and other artwork designs created by adults.

Do I get a proof on what the jewelry would look like before it's made?

No, there is only one step between your drawing and its being worked directly in metal, and that is when we size it down to actual size of the finished piece of jewelry. After that, the creative and engineering process is engaged, where Mia and her team will make decisions on what to cut and what to engrave as they trace the image with precise hand tools in order to bring out the character of the artwork while keeping the piece strong and functional.

What are your prices?

Most prices for kid-designed jewelry can be found in our online shop. Our key chains are different: they have a price range ($89-$159), and each key chain requires a price quote before you can order. Fine jewelry, if in stock, will be priced on the website, but other pieces will always require a price quote — size, cut and quality of stones affects price, as does width and thickness of jewelry to be designed.

Why are there various different prices for key chains?

Titanium being such a hard metal, an intricate drawing will be very labor-intensive to cut out, and the price will be higher. We need to see the drawing to create the quote. That being said, you can get an idea of prices based on looking at example prices in our key chain section.

How do I get a price for fine jewelry?

Not all the fine jewelry on the website has prices displayed, but we can create a price estimate for you fairly quickly, based on current materials costs. Just copy and past the photo of the jewelry you like into an e-mail to us. We will come back to you with an estimate.

How long does it take to get my jewelry?

After we receive your payment, it usually takes approximately 5-7 business days to make jewelry based on your child’s drawing. If we are creating custom fine jewelry that includes stone setting. Shiping it out will take around 3 weeks or more. Shipping in the US usually takes 2-3 days, and shipping to other countries should take about 10 days.
Another thing to keep in mind: Christmas is our busiest time (along with Mother’s Day and Father’s Day). Please place your order early as turnaround time will be longer the closer we get to any of these three holidays.

Do you ship to destinations outside the US?

Yes, we handle orders around the world. If you’re not in a hurry, we will ship with first class international mail.

NOTE: Customs duties and fees may apply!

International orders may incur additional fees as a tax levied on exports depending on the country or territory of shipment.

Do you sell your items in retail stores?

We do. If you are a retail location, we would love to send you a display and sample jewelry. Let’s talk! Please email us at info@formiadesign.com

What is your policy on the return of custom jewelry?

Just return the jewelry and we will make something new or change it so it meets your expectations. Due to the nature of custom designs which in most cases cannot be resold, we cannot refund the purchase.
